Tacit knowledge:
- Tacit knowledge is generally imprecise and transformation cost is high.
- It is an accumulative store of the company experiences, expertise, trade secrets, understanding, insights, skill sets and learning.
- Tacit knowledge is extremely personal and unstructured and it is hard to validate.
- It includes the company culture, which replicates the past and present knowledges of the company people and processes and also the company normal values.
Explicit knowledge:
- It is more rational, technical and objective type of knowledge.
- Explicit knowledge is a knowledge that has been organized in a form which can be distributed to others.
- An example of explicit knowledge is that an explanation of how to process a job application that is documented in a safe human properties policy manual.
- It is something that can really be shared with others via file and it would include goals and reports.
