Chapter 5.6, Problem 1MI
Summary Introduction

Mitochondria, chloroplast, and hydrogenosomes are key energy conserving organelles. Chloroplasts possess chlorophyll and they utilize light energy for the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water into carbohydrates and oxygen (O2). Chloroplasts serve as a site of photosynthesis and they are bound by two membranes. The inner membrane of the chloroplast surrounds the matrix is known as stroma. Thylakoids are membrane-bound compartments located inside the chloroplast.
