Hinge theorem is

If two sides of a triangle correspond to two sides of another triangle, and the angle of inclination of the first triangle is greater than the angle of inclination of the second triangle, so the sides of the first triangle are longer than the sides of the third side of the second triangle.

Calculation:

Consider the upper triangle.

From the given figure the angles of the upper triangle are 95°, (90°−60°) and let the third angle is θ .

It is known that sum of all the angles of a triangle is equal to 180° .

Now, calculate θ .

  θ=180°−95°−(90°−60°)=180°−125°=55°

Since 60°>55° , use Hinge Theorem.

The side 5x+3 must be greater than the side 3x+17 .

Now, solve for x .

  5x+3>3x+172x>14x>7

Similarly, 55°>30° . Thus,

  3x+17>5x17>5x−3x8.5>x

Hence, the required range is 7<x<8.5 .
