There are some male African cichlid fish that maintain their territories and are attractive to egg-laden females. They have developed hypothalamus in the brain, which secretes GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone) and stimulates a number of responses. Those who lack territory have the hypothalamus of reduced size and, so, GnRH is less.
