The risk factors involved in the cardiovascular diseases.
Concept introduction:
The cardiovascular disease is a group of disease that affect the heart and the circulatory system. It includes heart attack, angina, and stroke. The hypertension and atherosclerosis are the main causes of the cardiovascular disease. When the blood flows at higher pressure than the normal inside the arteries, it results in hypertension.
Hypertension occurs when the systolic pressure is 140 mm Hg or above and diastolic pressure is 90 mm Hg or above. Atherosclerosis is a condition which occurs when the arteries become narrow due to the deposition of fatty material inside them. Due to this, the arteries become so narrow that the oxygenated blood can not be transported to the heart. This condition can cause angina, which is characterized by the chest pain.If the piece of the fatty material breaks off from the arterial wall, it can cause blood clot formation. The blood clot can restrict the flow of oxygenated blood to the heart muscle resulting in permanent damage. This condition is called a heart attack.
