Eco-city is the design, which is implemented to decrease the harmful environmental impact and increase the beneficial impact of the environment. The eco-city model is a people-oriented model, which is designed in such a way to allow the residents to walk, bike, or use low-polluting modes of transportation. The buildings meet the high energy-efficiency standards. Afforestation is done to provide shade, beauty, wildlife habitats, and to reduce air pollution, noise, and soil erosion. Curitiba, Brazil is an example of an eco-city.
