The bone matrix constitutes most of the bone. It is made up of organic and inorganic materials. The organic materials comprise of the collagen (most prominent), proteoglycans, matrix proteins and others. The inorganic component of the bone matrix is calcium hydroxyapatite which consists of calcium phosphate and calcium hydroxide.
