To determine:
The reason why the stresses or impacts applied to the side of the shaft in a long bone more dangerous than stress applied to the long axis of the shaft.
Introduction:
The stress and the pressure applied to the compact bones can lead to the fractures in the bones. The osteons and the osteocytes are aligned in the same direction, which makes the bones thick. The bone can withstand the pressure on the side of the bone, but cannot tolerate pressure on the long end of the shaft. This is due to the formation of the ridges and furrows. This makes the bone fragile at the long end of the shaft.
