Network topology:
- The shape or structure of a network is called as network topology that includes the planning of the communication links and hardware devices on the network.
- The signal types, transmission rates, distance between devices and physical interconnection may differ between networks, but they may all have the same topology.
Three network topology:
The three most common types of network topology are:
- Star topology
- Mesh topology
- Bus topology
Star topology:
- It contains single central hub, while all of computers or nodes are connected to central hub.
- Communicate with any computer but communication takes place only through common hub.
- Failure in one computer does not affect the performance of the network.
