Given:
The checkerboard is made up of 64 congruent black and red square.
Calculation:
In a square, all 4 sides are congruent and at right
As each side of the checkerboard contains 8 square blocks in length and each side of the squares is congruent, the lengths of all 4 sides of the checkerboard are same.
As the corners of the board are made up of squares, hence the vertices of the board are all at right angles.
Therefore, according to the definition of square, the checkerboard is a square.
