To write:
The comparison of locations of the major salivary glands of the human with those of the fetal pig.
Introduction:
Pig’s have three pairs of salivary glands as in humans. The parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands.
Explanation of Solution
The major salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, and sublingual) are located around the maxilla in both fetal pigs and humans. They secrete saliva into the mouth. The parotid secretes saliva through tubes that drain saliva and called salivary ducts, found near the upper teeth. The submandibular gland secretes saliva under the tongue and the sublingual gland secretes saliva through many ducts in the floor of the mouth.
The salivary glands in the humans and in the fetal pig occupy similar locations.
