Concept Introduction:
Statement that uses chemical symbols and formulas instead of words in order to describe the changes that takes place in a
- Correct formulas of the reactants are written in left side of chemical equation.
- Correct formulas of products are written in right side of chemical equation.
- An arrow is placed between reactants and products which point towards the products.
- If two or more substances are present in reactant and product, plus sign is used to separate them.
Balanced chemical equation is the one that has equal number of atoms of each element that is involved in the chemical reaction on both sides of the chemical equation. An unbalanced chemical equation can be balanced by adding coefficients to the equation. It is a number that is placed in left side of the chemical formula so that it changes the amount only and not the identity.

What would be the molecular formula for a polymer made by linking ten glucose molecules together by dehydration reactions? Group of answer choices A. C60H120O60 B. C60H102O51 C. C60H100O50 D. C60H111O51 Use the following information to answer the following questions."The native structure of hemoglobin (HB) comprises of two α and two β subunits, each of which carries a heme group. There appear to be no previous studies that report the in-vitro folding and assembly of Hb from highly unfolded α and β globin in a 'one-pot' reaction. One difficulty that has to be overcome for studies of this kind is the tendency of Hb to aggregate during refolding. This work demonstrates that denaturation of Hb in 40% acetonitrile at pH 10.0 is reversible." The color of this protein is dependent on two things, what the iron is bonded to and the charge of the iron. For example when the iron is bonded to oxygen and has a charge of +2 then the protein is red. What is the charge of the iron when the protein is brown? a. 0 b. +3 c. +4 d. +1arrow_forward
- Which of the following explains why beta sheets are the secondary structures observed in aggregates? a. Beta sheet structures can form between differing peptide chains allowing for aggregates b. This is a false statement; aggregates prefer fibrous structures like tropocollagen c. Beta sheet structures are formed with lots of charged residues that form ionic interactions to further stabilize the structure of the aggregate d. Beta sheet structures contain numerous cysteinyl residues that allow for formation of disulfide bonds for stabilizing the aggregatearrow_forwardWhich of the following is true regarding proteins A.
