Chapter 7, Problem 11RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
1. The function of intervertebral discs.
2. Difference between annulus fibrosus and nucleus pulposus of a disc.
3. The part that herniates in the prolapsed disc condition.
Introduction:
Intervertebral discs are fibrocartilages present between adjacent vertebrae in the vertebral column. Annulus fibrosus and nucleus pulposus are part of the intervertebral disc. A prolapsed disc or a slipped disc is an abnormality related to the distortion of the intervertebral disc structure.
