The general areas of the body served by the cranial nerves and also, provide the name and function of the area vagus nerve serves in the body.
Introduction:
Cranial nerves are the pair of nerves that arise directly from the brain, unlike spinal nerves that arises from the spinal cord. There are total 12 cranial nerves, out of which, cranial nerve I–II mainly arise from the cerebrum, whereas the III–XII arise from the brain stem. The cranial nerves can be described as sensory, motor, or both. The major functions of these cranial nerves include carrying information from sensory organs to brain and regulation of glands and internal organs.
