The appendicular skeleton is the vertebral portion of the skeleton which consists of the bones that support the appendages. The appendicular skeleton includes of the skeletal elements within the limbs and those which supports the pectoral and pelvic girdle. The appendicular skeleton is subject to several developmental abnormalities occurring in 2 per 1000 births, which includes of a condition called as Amelia/ meromelia.
