Summary Introduction
The human body is composed of trillions of cells and each cell contains 46 chromosomes or 23 pairs of homologous chromosomes. Chromosomes contain genes, which are DNA segments that encode the genetic information. The gene is called the basic physical as well as the functional unit of the genetic information or heredity. A pair of different version of a gene is called alleles. Each allele is derived from each parent, the alleles can be similar or different.
