The effect of larger sized atom on the pi bond formation should be explained briefly.
Concept Introduction:
- A sigma bond is formed when the concentration of electron density that shared is through the internuclear axis.
- A pi bond is formed when the concentration of electron density that shared is below and above the molecular plane.
- The distance between two atoms become very large if the size of the atom increases so it becomes very difficult to effectively overlap the p orbitals along the sideways.
