Chapter 7.2, Problem 14AQP

a.

Summary Introduction

To determine:

(a). The result of testcross if the locus that control banding and color is linked with no crossing over. (b). The results of the test cross if the loci assort independently. (c). The results of test cross if the loci are linked and 20 m.u. apart.

Introduction:

Cepaea nemoralis is an air breathing species of land snail and also known as grove snail and brown lipid snail. It has two autosomal genes that are located at different positions on the same chromosome. The two alleles are (B0) and (Bb) in which (B0) is the dominant allele which represents unbanded shell and (Bb) is recessive which represents banded allele. In (Cbw), and (CY) alleles, (Cbw), is the dominant allele that represents brown color of shell and (CY) represent recessive allele and yellow color of shell.

b.
