Cardiology deals with many cardiac disorders like coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, heart attacks and many more pathological condition of the heart. The common symptoms of cardiovascular disease are chest pain and breathing difficulties. The causes for these symptoms are reduced blood flow to the heart. Arteriosclerosis is one such condition that leads to reduced blood flow. It is a progressive degenerative disease affecting the arterial walls. Arterial walls become thickened due to deposition of plaque forming substances like cholesterol and cellular debris. Some times the blood clot (thrombus) also worsen the block. If the block completely closes the lumen of the artery, it stops the blood flow and causes localized tissue death.
