An 8-meter diameter vertical cylindrical tank provides potable water to a village through a pipe 80-mm in diameter at an average speed of 80 ft/s. The tank is being supplied through a pump from a water company at a rate of 8000 liters per minute. At the given instant, the tank is ¼ full, find the water elevation after 8 hours if the height of the tank is 18 meters.
Determine the number of gallons of paint needed to paint the outside surface of the water-supply tank, which consists of a hemispherical bottom, cylindrical sides, and conical top. Each gallon of paint can cover 250 ft2.
