Introduction: Autonomic nervous system (ANS) is a functional division of the peripheral nervous system. It is (structurally and functionally) divided into two parts, namely the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS).
Explanation of Solution
The expression of emotions varies widely in people. It may include the sense of happiness, excitement, sadness, or fear. In response to any emotional cues, the SNS of the ANS controls the endocrine glands to prepare body for emergency actions. It stimulates the adrenal glands to release various hormones, particularly the cortisol that is associated with the negative mood states.
