The usefulness of pelvis in identifying the sex, the relative age, and some physical characteristics of the person.

Concept introduction:

The pelvis of females differs greatly in structure from the pelvis of the males. This difference in structure is due to the adaptation of female pelvic girdle to facilitate the childbirth and childbearing. Other differences in structure are due to the difference in body mass and size of males and females.
