Developmental processes of elbow and knee, thumb and great toe in opposite directions.
Introduction:
Elbow joint is present between the lower and upper arm (in forelimb) while the knee joint lies between the thigh and the lower leg (in the hind limb). Elbow helps in extension and flexion of the forearm in relation to the upper arm. Similarly, knee help in the extension and flexion of the lower leg in relation to the thigh.
Thumb is the digit of hands while the great toe is the largest digit of the foot. During embryonic development, the orientation of great toe and thumb is the same but in adults, they are present in the opposite direction.
