. As the owner of Barney’s Broilers—a fast-food chain—you see an increase in the demand for broiled chicken as consumers become more health conscious and reduce their consumption of beef and fried foods. As a result, you believe it is necessary to purchase another oven to meet the increased demand. To finance the oven you go to the bank seeking a loan. The loan officer tells you that your revenues of $750,000 are insufficient to support additional debt. To qualify for the loan, Barney’s Broilers’s revenue would need to be $50,000 higher. In developing a strategy to generate the additional revenue, you collect data on the price (in cents) per pound you charge customers and the related quantity of chicken consumed per year in pounds. This information is contained in the file called Q18.xls available online at www.mhhe.com/baye8e It is also available in the ‘Assignments’ section of the class Blackboard page in ‘MBA 6150 HW 3 Q18 data set’ file. Use that data and a log-linear demand…

Price Ceiling of Low-Cost Homes
The Malaysian government has implemented a price ceiling on low-cost homes starting from the year 2010. The implementation of this price ceiling is aimed to ensure that people from the lower income group have one of the necessities, which is shelter. The government has set the price ceiling of low-income houses at RM42,000 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM50,400 in Sabah and Sarawak. Furthermore, in conjunction with the 10th Malaysia plan, the government has planned to develop more houses at an affordable price, involving private developers. The target is to have 161,000 affordable homes, of which private developers would build 83,000 units while the rest would be built by the government.Due to the implementation of this price ceiling, the legal maximum price of low-income houses set by the government is lower than the market equilibrium price. This is done in order to protect the interest of consumers by preventing the producers from charging prices that…

How can college be made more affordable? Revenues earned by colleges and universities come from three main sources: Tuition and fees paid by students, which have increased faster than the cost of living. Support from governments at the federal, state and local levels. This support is paid for through tax revenues. Group of answer choices A competitive market maximises total surplus as all the gains from trade are realized. - The Consumer Act of the Philippines or also known as RA 7394 is a law embodies the state policy on the protection of consumers and establishes standards of conduct for business and industry in the country. Back up your claims with realistic examples.arrow_forwardSuppose the government establishes a per-unit tax on new car sales. The tax funds will be directed to a new pollution abatement program. Consumers in this market watch the price of cars carefully, since a car purchase represents a significant percentage of consumers’ incomes. On the supply side of the market, the car manufacturers use highly specialized equipment and production processes to produce cars, and find it relatively difficult and costly to quickly move into the production of alternative consumer products. Based on this information above, determine which side of the market (demand or supply) is more price elastic. Make a sketch of the demand and supply in this market, in which the relative slopes reflect the relative elasticities you have noted.
