Question
Chapter 9, Problem 6RQE
Program Plan Intro
Pointer:
Pointer will allow the user to indirectly access and manipulate the variable data contents. A pointer variable will hold the address of the data contents. If an asterisk “*” operator is present before the variable then that variable is referred as pointer variable. An asterisk “*” is also referred as indirection operator is used to dereferences the pointer.
Representing array using pointer notation:
- In general array will have a continuous allocation of memory bytes, to represent the values present in the array it can be represented using its subscript value.
- So to represent the values using pointer notation with an indirection operator the name of the array plus the subscript representing the value needs to be specified.
- When we represent only the array name, it will indicate the first element of the array.
- To represent the next element we need to increment the values by one to find the proceeding elements of the array.

Look at the following array definition.
int numbers[5] = { 1, 2, 3 };A) What value is stored in numbers[2]?B) What value is stored in numbers[4]?
An array definition reserves space for the array.
true or false
Largest/Smallest Array Values
Write a program that lets the user enter 10 values into an array. The program should then display the largest and smallest values stored in the array.
Do question 7(above) again this time using 5 functions.
void getValues(int [], int);
void displayValues(const int[], int);
int largest(const int[],int);
int smallest(const int[],int);
void displayLargestSmallest(int,int);

In Powerball, a ticket is comprised of 5 numbers between 1 and 69 that must be unique, and a Powerball number between 1 and 26. The Powerball does not have to be unique. Hint: You can use an array to represent the 5 unique numbers between 1 and 69, and an integer variable to represent the powerball. The program asks the player if they'd like to select numbers or do a 'quickpick', where the numbers are randomly generated for them. If they opt to select numbers, prompt them to type the numbers in and validate that they are unique (except the powerball), and in the correct range. The program then generates a 'drawing' of 5 unique numbers and a Powerball, and checks it against the user's lotto ticket. It assigns winnings accordingly.
