The mixture that is given is said to contain NaNO3 and Na2SO4.  The mass of mixture is 5.37g.  Molar mass of the individual components is calculated as follows;

Molar mass of NaNO3:

    Molarmass=1×(22.98gmol1)+1×(14.01gmol1)+3×(16.00gmol1)=22.98gmol1+14.01gmol1+48.00gmol1=84.99gmol1

Molar mass of Na2SO4:

    Molarmass=2×(22.98gmol1)+1×(32.06gmol1)+4×(16.00gmol1)=45.96gmol1+32.06gmol1+64.00gmol1=142.02gmol1

Mass percentage of sodium in individual component in the mixture is calculated as shown below;

Mass percentage of Na in NaNO3:

    Masspercentage=MassofNaatomin1molofNaNO3molarmassofNaNO3×100=22.98gmol184.99gmol1×100=27.04%

Mass percentage of Na in Na2SO4:

Mass of sodium in (5.37x)g of Na2SO4 is calculated as shown below;

Total mass of sodium that is present in the mixture is given as 1.61g.  Therefore, the equation obtained can be given as shown below;

    0.2704xg + 1.738g0.3236xg = 1.61g0.0532xg=0.128xg=0.1280.0532=2.41g

Therefore, the mass of NaNO3 in the mixture is found to be 2.41g.  The mass percentage of NaNO3 is calculated as shown below;
