MEDT 2501 Final Lesson Plan **Remember to use the Lesson Plan Guide to help you create this lesson plan** Name: Emma Flynn Name of the Lesson: Money Mia Grade / Subject Area: 1st grade Math 1. Georgia Content Standard(s) : 1.MDR.6 Use appropriate tools to measure, order, and compare intervals of length and time, as well as denominations of money to solve real-life, mathematical problems and analyze graphical displays of data to answer relevant questions. 2. ISTE Foundational Standard : 1.5 Computational Thinker 3. Student Learning Goals / Objectives : Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to use tools to measure, order, and compare time and money. 4. Launch of lesson : When beginning the lesson, I will be sure to have or say something that will grab the student's attention. For instance, I will use money to bring in the lesson. I may say something along the lines of “ Do you or anyone you know love money” 5. Instruction for the lesson: Please use bullets to indicate the sequence (step by step procedures) of your lesson. I will begin by getting the student's attention and having a discussion about how we use time and money in our everyday lives.
I will then explain the different hands on the clock and allow students to have a clock and explore it with a partner. I will then show them examples of money and the different bills and coins. We will practice counting money in a variety of ways (each student should already know how to count by different numbers) I will then use technology in my lesson. I will bring out the pizza-making technology and allow students to practice taking orders and counting change to the customers that come through. This technology will also allow them to practice time management in making sure each customer receives their order in a timely manner. 6. Strategies / Skills for Diverse Learners : This lesson can also be tailored to diverse students or students who may have a disability. If any student comes in the class that has a disability I would be sure to have the materials they need to be successful. For example, I would use an assistive device should a student need one. 7. Closure : I would bring the lesson to a close and tell them to quit working on what they are working on. I would then allow the students to come back together as a class and have a discussion and tell a couple of things that they learned during the lesson. I would then allow the students to ask any questions they may have from the lesson. 8. Assessment : I will then give the students a small quiz that will test their knowledge and what they learned during the lesson. On this quiz, I will be sure to add real-life questions about time and money that would allow the students to better comprehend the lesson.
