Unit 3 IP Morgan Weckesser Independent Project 3 Colorado Technical University 12/3/2023
Unit 3 IP Introduction Congratulations Mike and Theresa on your successful merger and newly created company, JEANSTYLE! What a momentous occasion! The next step in this journey is creating the framework of your newly founded company. Creating a mission, vision, and value statement will provide meaningful context for anyone looking into what you do, how you do it, and the culture behind your company. Setting out on the right foot will be imperative to your company and its employees. I will gladly assist you in creating this framework to ensure a successful future for you both. Our Mission: Affordable Trustworthy Styles A company’s mission statement as Kenny 2021 points to is that which describes what business the organization is in (and what it is not) both now and projecting into the future. Its aim is to provide focus for management and staff (para 4). Keep in mind this statement is not set in stone as Enochson 2023 states, your company constantly evolves and grows, so your mission statement must reflect those changes (para 15). A mission statement is imperative for your company to have a solid springboard to move forward. I suggest we work to make this mission statement generalized but specific at the same time while also being memorable. I encourage you to bring about your own ideas for your company in how you want to be presented among the business community. Your mission sets the standard for which you will continuously follow throughout the years to come. I have no doubt that a solid mission statement will bring about a fortuitous future. A few examples would be as follows: “Our mission is to redefine working styles through comfort and efficiency, for everyone.” “Our mission is to combine practicality and comfort for every job.”
Unit 3 IP A Vision to Keep JEANSTYLE Moving Forward Together, you should also formulate a vision statement for JEANSTYLE. You may be asking, what is the difference between the two? Well, the vision statement describes what the organization wants to be, whereas the mission states what the organization is (Board, 2019, p. 147). This will allow your customer base to get a better understanding of what your company is creating now, and what you plan to create in the future. The goal is to always look forward to what you can do better and the innovation that can occur moving forward. Remember, as Mitchell, M., Chawla, K., Kappen, J., and Culek, C, 2023 expressed, an effective vision statement should be concise, unambiguous, futuristic, realistic, aspirational, and inspirational. So, what vision statement do we want to set out for JEANSTYLE? You could expand into more than uniforms creating a “everyday styles” line. Think about what you look forward to in the next year to five years. What does JEANSTYLE look like in your mind’s eye? Below are a few suggestions: “JEANSTYLE: The Nation’s only uniform supplier for every business.” “JEANSTYLE: Providing evocative styles beyond uniforms.” Where Values Meet Expectations Your values statement is the guiding beacon that should shine over the company. This will encapsulate how your employees are expected to carry themselves when they represent JEANSTYLE. A values statement is also backed by your mission and vision statement in that they all tie together in a harmonious trinity. Moreover, your code of conduct can be derived from this statement and could become the pivotable foundation. A values statement should be memorable, actionable, and timeless (Mitchell, M., Chawla, K., Kappen, J., and Culek, C., 2023, para 6). Values are timeless and essential to all companies

Unit 3 IP and often what the next generation of employees will be looking to when searching for a job. You will want to ensure JEANSTYLE can attract top candidates to help you all be successful. Overwhelmingly, you want to promote a positive, growing, and innovative environment to which your employees can flourish. A few examples of this are as follows: “Together we can authentically listen to our customers and employees towards continuous improvement and involvement.” “Through efficiency and innovation, we will empower our customers and employees to embrace comfort and style within their lives.” Communicating the New Way Forward Mike and Theresa, when communicating with your employees you should be as transparent and genuine as possible. There are multiple changes happening at one time here, and being clear is imperative now, more than ever. A communication plan clearly articulates changes to all stakeholders, it must be realistic and flexible, and it must provide the resources and support to promote the change (Board, E. 2019). This can be achieved by town hall meetings, as my employer has chosen, or smaller venues allowing the branch managers to hold staff meetings to convey key talking points to your employees. By setting goals and objectives, establishing a strongly united message, as well as having an action plan regarding role responsibilities, you will be able to clearly communicate how JEANSTYLE will move forward. We will want to start incorporating these statements into our everyday language we will engage our employee’s subconscious thoughts, so they instinctively feel as though they are contributing to the overall company morale. Utilizing several vehicles of communication will assist you in reaching across all JEANSTYLE and ensure the messages are heard clearly.
Unit 3 IP Conclusion Mike and Theresa, by now you will know how to announce your triumph and implore your employees to venture with you on this new and exciting journey. You will let them know that you have a clear mission for today, a vision for tomorrow, and values to support both. Continue to speak with your employees about your mission and vision for JEANSTYLE so they can see the mission and vision through how you carry yourself. This will speak volumes to your employees. Do not be afraid to be creative and dig deeper for something truly worthwhile.
