Organizational Structure
We identified several differences and some similarities between the Lockheed innovation team
“Skunk Works” and the case study organization structure, for example one of them can be the
technological resources they have available to innovate new products or military aircrafts in this
case. The organization in the case study does not have too many resources to performed their job
and also, they innovate group of employees need tor report to two different managers to get
approved their ideas by the other hand, The Skunk Works team was involved in a specific project,
they had access to numerous technical resources and count with a dedicated space to perform their
activities and also a detailed calendar with a specific deadline. One similarly between the case
study organization and the Skunk Works team from Lockheed is that both count with teams that
have a define targets, goals, specific time to comply their objectives that give them the sense of
urgency that is needed to reach their goals and objectives, also count with clear direction from their
management and not get distracted doing other jobs.
The Skunk works team is focus on create and build planes that never exist before and have the
highest technology for the time by the other hand the case study organization is deciding between
to develop a new product from scratch (discontinuous innovation), or make an upgrade of the
existing models progressively (incremental innovation).
Furthermore, one important aspect of the Lockheed Skunk Works team works independently of the
conventional organizational operations which make them have decision in a shorter period of time,
reporting to just one manager that have autonomy to take decisions instantly, also practice the trial-
and-error methodology which help them to achieve their goals faster, however the case study
organization team does not have that independence in their decisions and have to continue be
asking and get approved from two different seniors managers which make difficult and slows the
approval project process. Creative
Climate
The case study organization is changing to have a better work climate where innovation is a
priority and realizing that doing the product differentiation is essential to stay competitive in the
market. The study company will identify their strengthens and weaknesses while analyzing the competition's
plan and structure so the company can work in these areas to improve. After analyzing the Skunk
Works case of study, we can say that under the circumstances and the pressure to get quick and
good results Lockheed group team develop a highly creative climate that include a variety of
engineers with different talents, expertise and experience that together can achieve the objectives
given by the government. When a company have this type of diversity it allows for gathering
different views on the project, which leads to a higher level of innovation and accelerate the
results. The Skunk Works team seems to be a lot more motivated and innovative than the case
study organization just because the they are focus on only one project, report to one manager that
take decisions on the spot, they allow to fail and try again and also have different talent that can
take care different areas of the same project instead the case study organization does not have
any of these things and will suffer to obtain the similar results.

Enabling Assessment 13: Key Strategic Leadership Actions
As discussed in this module, there are several actions that characterize effective
strategic leadership. In this exercise, you will use these actions to evaluate two
top-level managers who are widely known and who have served as the CEO
and/or chairman of his firm for a long period of time. The length of time these
individuals have served their firms allows you to find a wealth of information about
their actions as strategic leaders as well as the results of those actions. You can
consult each firm's Web site as well as search engines to find the information and
materials you will need to complete this exercise.
In the chart below, provide an example of each strategic leadership action for each
of the two individuals. (Note: You are not being asked to provide an example of
the "exploiting and maintaining core competencies" action. The reason for this is
that this action is internal to the firm, meaning that it would be difficult…
