9-1 Executive Summary (Randstad N.V.)
By: Tracy Henderson
Southern New Hampshire University
MBA 540: Org Strategy in Global Env Date: 05/19/2022
Executive Summary
Randstad, N.V is the leading Human Resource Business globally. This region quickly
shifts due to innovative tools, more arduous contests, and a recuperating post-pandemic market.
As a result, many areas of prospects exist to support power in the marketplace. We desire a quick
evaluation of our firm's core concentrations combined with limitations toward possible regions
of concern and recommend suggestions that we may be able to benefit from.
Uncertainty cannot be modernized effectively if our company fails market share over ten
years. The slowness can affect the growth and overall bottom line. We are conducting research
by evaluating our competition's concentrations and vulnerabilities while concurrently taking
benefits. Our usability significantly impacts the development capability to participate in the
moving Human Resources sector through various methods, including effective enrollment, new
goods and services, and our capability to create new goods based on new and current types of
machinery.
In this rapidly changing marketplace, we must acknowledge the existing industry
atmosphere and recognize the difference in industry situations. The most meaningful difference
to the outer case is due to the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic. The epidemic has shifted employees
and generated many opportunities surrounding all industry sectors. A projected 8.8% of overall
operating times were dropped due to the epidemic, equaling about 255 million full-time jobs.
The industries that were hit hardest were food services, arts, culture, retail, and construction
based on the International Labor Organization. In addition, the inconsistent influence that the
epidemic has affected has developed in an irregular improvement among the operating programs,
especially fresher workers, females, the independent, and low medium-skilled workers.

It had been a bad morning for Jonathan Reid, the general manager of MMC’s Cortana joint venture. He had just gotten off the telephone with his boss in New York, Phillip Smith, who was demanding to know why the joint venture’s return on investment was still in the low single digits four years after Jonathan had taken over the top post in MMC Cortana’s operations.
“We had expected a much better performance by now” Smith said, “particularly given your record of achievement; you need to fix this Jonathan, our patience is not infinite. Now, in an effort to revitalize the firm, the company have invested heavily in both the financial and human resources within the firm, the company are hoping to recover their investment dollars. However, the business appears to be a dead end and the competitors have already largely monopolised the online search engine market, which makes it very hard for the company to find a niche aspect of the market which would offer both growth potential as well as help them to recover from some very lean years of operation. Management are proposing that they invest further to ‘buy in’ some entrepreneurial thinkers who will hopefully help to turn things around.

A pioneer in smartphones, BlackBerry was the undisputed industry leader in the early 2000s. IT managers preferred BlackBerry. Its devices allowed users to receive e-mail and other data in real-time globally, with enhanced security features. For executives, a BlackBerry was not just a tool to increase productivity—and to free them from their laptops— but also an important status symbol. As a consequence, by 2008 BlackBerry’s market cap had peaked at $75 billion. Yet by 2015, this valuation had fallen more than 90 percent, to less than $7 billion. What happened? Being Canadian, BlackBerry’s longtime co-CEO, Jim Balsillie, not surprisingly sees ice hockey as his favorite sport. He likes to quote Wayne Gretzky, “The Great One,” whom many consider the best ice hockey player ever: “Skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it is.” Alas, BlackBerry did not follow that advice. BlackBerry fell victim to two important PESTEL factors in its external environment.…
