Directions: Answer each question completely. 11.Why does Laird say that her “honeymoon” with online teaching is over. - Laird says that her “honeymoon” with online teaching is over because at first, she was excited to teach her online class until she realized that it was completely different than in person teaching, and it is not as fun as she expected. 12.According to Laird, why are online teaching and classroom-based teaching different? How does she explain the differences? - Laird believes that classroom-based teaching is different than in person teaching because there are many obstructions in online teaching that you don’t see in classroom based teaching. She says that people do not take class seriously like they would in a classroom based setting. 13.In what way does classroom-based teaching limit students’ choices? How is online teaching different? - In classroom-based teaching, students’ choices are limited because of transportation and it is hard for them to be able to multi-task. Online teaching allows students to work from home, which doesn’t require any transportation and they are able to learn how to manage their time on their own 14.What is the thesis/point of this essay? Who is she addressing her essay to? - The point of this essay is to compare and contrast both ways of learning. She is addressing the essay to teachers and students that teach and learn in both online and in person settings. 15.Do you agree or disagree with Laird’s assessment of online learning as oppose to classroom-based learning? Why? - Yes, I agree with Laird’s assessment. I believe that a lot of students tend to slack with online learning. I see why she says that online learning can be stressful and difficult to work with.
