Circuit simulators are an indepensible tool for electrical engineers. The design and production process for circuits is incredibly time consuming. What's worse is when all that time and effort goes into manufacturing the circuit only for it to turn on and fail or even damage a component. Engineers then have to find the flaw in the circuit and/or replace the broken parts. Not only is this time consuming but it's also a waste of resources . Circuit simulation allows for engineers to design circuits and simulate circuit performance while testing statistical variations of components to see their effect on circuit operations. Engineers can even test with components they might not physically possess! It essentially allows engineers to check their work and test hypotethicals prior to production. No harm is done if it fails and it's much easier to alter and improve from there! The circuit can be tested continuously until it's perfect and with the time efficiency of computers, the circuit can be infinitely looped in order to analyse the behaviour after long periods of time. Circuit components are in short supply and extraction of raw material to produce these components is extremely damaging to the environment. The turnaround time and cost of fabrication as well as the sheer number of design parameters under consideration makes the use of a simulation a whole lot more efficient. However, a simulation is only as good as the one who designs it. No matter how advanced the software may be, it is limited to human capabilities and cannot always predict the true behaviour of the circuit. Another negative is high computer dependence. As advanced as they are, computers can still be unreliable. Software may run slowly or even crash when needed most - however this is really a small bump when it comes to saving time and resources.
