Lab 4
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to understand how DC series circuit’s function. This
understanding is achieved by analyzing the resistance of different circuits with multiple
resistors, providing a further understanding of how resistance affects circuits.

▪
1 (dc power supply)
Procedure:
The first step in this lab is to create a circuit with two resistors and calculate the total resistance
mathematically. Then we compare that value to our measure valued on the DMM. We measure
and compare the total resistance for every following circuit we create in the lab. Then compare
how the total resistance changes depending on the different types of circuits.

Lab 5
Purpose: The objective of this lab is to learn about key concepts such as the Kirchhoff law and
the voltage divider rule and how they function in a circuit. We will achieve this by learning how
voltage and current function in a series dc circuit.

▪

▪
1 (DMM)
▪
1 (dc power supply)
Procedure:
First, we must build the circuit pictured in the lab manual, and then use the DMM to measure
the current and voltage of the circuit. Once we have recorded the values, we observe how these
values compare to key concepts and laws surrounding voltage and current. Complete these
steps to analyze both Kirchhoff's law and the voltage divider rule. Finally, we compare how both
of these laws function in an open circuit and compare this to the observations you made about
closed circuits.

Figure 2 shows a simplified model of a gas-discharge
