Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is to make healthcare coverage more available, affordable and acceptable and to slow the growth of health care cost. It is ensure patients have access to quality, affordable health care and will create the transformation within the health care system. Value-
added services are performed to meet customer demands. It helps to reduce
costs, decrease time to market, increase productivity and enhance responsiveness for customers. They are extra benefits offered by managed care organizations beyond the Medicaid-covered services. Value-added services are benefits that promote healthy lifestyles and improve health outcomes. It is an option for customers to choose in making the best service for them. Value-added services are critical to every facility as it demonstrates to the patients that they are competent and committed to providing an exceptional level of service. One example of a value-added service is telemedicine. I worked in the hospital for over 10 years and I can see how telemedicine has increase patient services. For example, patients who don't have a way to see the doctor can now do it over the phone and get the same service they would get if they would come to the doctor office. Another example of a value-added service is transportation for patients. For example, the company I work use a transportation service call Comfort Care. This service provides transportation to patients that need a ride to their doctor's appointment for no cost to the patients. This service helps patient be compliant in seeing their doctor and also getting their labs/procedures done.
