Abstract:

Evolution of Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Discipline
Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) has emerged as a critical discipline within the broader field of supply chain management. This report delves into the evolution of SCRM between 2009 and 2013, focusing on key themes that have shaped its development during this period. Through a comprehensive review of literature and industry practices, this report identifies three major themes: globalization, technology integration, and resilience enhancement. These themes highlight the challenges and opportunities faced by organizations in managing risks within their supply chains and underscore the evolving nature of SCRM as a discipline.
1. Globalization:
3
Evolution of Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Discipline
The years between 2009 and 2013 witnessed an intensification of globalization, with businesses increasingly relying on global networks of suppliers and partners. While globalization brought opportunities for cost reduction and market expansion, it also exposed supply chains to a wide array of risks, including geopolitical instability, natural disasters, and economic fluctuations. As a result, SCRM strategies evolved to address the complexities of operating in a globalized environment.
One notable trend during this period was the recognition of the need for greater transparency and visibility across supply chains. Companies began investing in technologies such as supply chain mapping and real-time tracking systems to gain insights into the location and status of their inventory, suppliers, and transportation networks. By enhancing visibility, organizations could proactively identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate their impact.
Furthermore, the rise of multi-tier supply chains emphasized the interconnectedness of global business operations. Organizations realized that
disruptions at lower tiers of the supply chain could have cascading effects, amplifying risks throughout the entire network. Consequently, there was a growing emphasis on building resilience through collaboration and information sharing with suppliers and partners across different tiers.
2. Technology Integration:
The period from 2009 to 2013 witnessed rapid advancements in information technology, which significantly influenced the practice of SCRM.

Both are placed in a tank, and the set up allows for them to coexist, with the waste produced by the fish fertilizing the plants, while the plants purify the water for the fish. The training, funded by the FAO, will take place at a demonstration facility, located at Adams Aquafarms, Hopewell, St. Thomas. The FAO is currently targeting 30 entrepreneurs and 10 teachers.
