CHANGES IN THE MARKETPLACE
Change in the marketplace: I would like to explore online shopping How the change addresses the distribution of products to my persona: My target market is millennial moms. This generation of people were brought up in the age when technology was really starting to advance and become an integrated part of everyday life. Whether they are on their laptops, tablets, or smartphones, millennials love to use the latest technology to make their busy lives easier. This includes ordering items online through the many platforms that offer hands free shopping. According to statistics on Hubspot.com, "65% of Millennials prefer to
buy products in-store, while 55% favor going through online retailers like Amazon." With this information, leveraging the world on online shopping will be extremely beneficial with my target market. DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL
Potential distribution channel and why it is appropriate for my product and persona: The distribution channel I recommend for my Chocolate Bliss baking chips is retail. I think this is the most effective and beneficial way to get my product to the consumer because research shows my persona prefers to shop in grocery, general merchandise, and drug stores. With regards to BDI Blog, 85% of millennials see retails stores as convenient. They like the fact they can go in, get the product, and have it that day. It is also a bonus that most retail stores offer to shop for items online and then pick them up in store or have them delivered later that day. My persona, Jennifer, is a busy mom, so with retailers on almost every corner while she is driving from work,
the kids' school, or extracurricular activities, she has many options to conveniently get the items she needs. Millennials also like to be able to see, touch, and try the product in person as part of the shopping experience. I feel having retail stores be the distributors will be the most successful way to sell my product knowing this is the favored choice to purchasing goods for millennials.
