Wk 1 Discussion 1 Brand: Uber Evaluate the four utilities of customer value for the brand you chose and explain the reasons you selected the brand. The four utilities of customer value are form, time, place and ease of possession. Form: refers to the process of turning raw materials into a finished product. It involves designing, creating, and providing the product to meet customer needs. Uber provides a convenient and efficient platform for transportation, transforming the raw material (the available vehicles and drivers) into a finished service Time: this pertains to the availability of a product or service when a customer wants it. It involves managing the time aspects of production, distributions and consumption to meet customer needs effectively. Uber excels in providing on-demand transportation, offering customers the ability to request a ride at any time, reducing wait times. There can however be variations in wait times based on location, demand, or other factors. Place: This focuses on making a product or service available where customers want to purchase it. It involves decisions related to distribution channels, logistics, and the location of retail outlets. Uber operates in numerous cities worldwide, making the service available in a wide range of locations. Ease of Possession: This is the ease with which customers can acquire ownership of access to a product. Involves strategies to facilitate the purchase process, such as financing options or convenient payment methods. Uber offers a seamless and cashless payment system, making it easy for customers to pay for rides. Define what constitutes a USP in your own words. A USP is a strategic statement crafted by a company to target potential customers and articulate why they should choose to buy a specific offering from that particular company. How would you describe your brand’s USP? Uber's USP lies in its innovative and disruptive approach to the traditional taxi and transportation industry. Key elements include: Convenience and accessibility, on-demand service, transparency, cashless transactions, rating system, innovative technology, diverse options and global presence.
Uber provides a highly convenient and accessible platform for users to request rides at their fingertips through a mobile app, whenever and wherever they need it. Ubers' mission statement mentions accessibility "Because we believe in a world where movement should be accessible." Uber introduces transparency in transportation by providing upfront pricing, estimated arrival times and details about the driver and vehicle before the ride. Cashless payments enhances convenience and safety for users. The rating system allows drivers and riders to provide feedback based on their experiences. How is USP reflected in your chosen tweet? I chose this tweetLinks to an external site. because it mentions "Shortest wait times" which highlights Uber's commitment to providing on-demand transportation, emphasizing convenience for users. Also mentions "curbside pickup" showing Uber's focus on providing a hassle-free experience. The closing statement "travel has never been so easy" supports Uber's USP of simplifying the transportation experience for users. Kotler’s Marketing 3.0 proposition Customers’ demand for engagement and collaboration Uber actively embraces customers' demand for engagement and collaboration. As White (2019) states in our textbook "Consumers are helping companies develop products, contributing ideas for advertising, and helping co-create value as they customize goods and services to their individual tastes" ( chp. 1.5). Uber exemplifies this concept by involving its users in the co- creation of value. Through features like user ratings, feedback mechanisms, and participation in shared services consumers actively contribute to shaping and enhancing the Uber experience. This approach fosters a sense of engagement but also aligns with the modern trend of consumers actively participating in the development and customization of products and services to meet their individual preferences and needs. The globalization paradox Uber has expanded its services globally, operating in numerous countries and cities. However, the globalization process has faced challenges due to varying regulations, cultural differences, and local competition. Uber has adapted its strategy to navigate these complexities and tailor its services to local contexts. While global expansion offers opportunities for growth, it also requires a nuanced understanding of local dynamics. Uber's ability to adapt its model to diverse markets demonstrates an awareness of the challenges associated with globalization. The drive for self-actualization Uber's platform empowers individuals, both drivers, and riders, to fulfill their transportation needs efficiently. For drivers, Uber provides a flexible earning opportunity, allowing them to achieve financial goals on their terms. For riders, the service contributes to the self-actualization of their transportation needs with a seamless and convenient experience. The platform offers a solution that goes beyond basic transportation, providing a service that is personalized, convenient, and aligns with the individual aspirations of both drivers and riders.
