Kyle Carriker ABE 225 January 25, 2024 Lab 1: Psychrometrics
Introduction This lab involves the psychrometric chart and finding various bioenvironmental values. These values give information on the general condition of the air inside of a room. Purpose and objective This work is trying to familiarize our understanding of the psychrometric chart and to practice finding the bioenvironmental values. Methods and Approach This lab had many methods used to find the values needed. To find the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature we used the psychrometer. We used the psychrometric chart to find the Relative Humidity, dew point temperature, humidity ratio, specific volume, enthalpy, sensible enthalpy, and latent enthalpy. We also used the additional information given in question 3 to rework our charting to find the sensible heat added, latent heat added, temperature in the room, and relative humidity in the room. We were then able to use our found values to answer question 4. Results and Discussion Using the psychrometer we found the dry-bulb Temperature to be 23.0 degrees Celsius and the wet-bulb temperature to be 11.0 degrees Celsius We then used the psychrometric chart to find these values: Relative Humidity: 20% Dew-point Temperature: -1.8 Humidity Ratio: 3.25 Specific Volume: 0.84 Enthalpy: 32 Sensible enthalpy: 24 Latent Enthalpy: 8 Question 3 gave us the additional information of: A room size of 100kg of air 15 people producing 100W of sensible heat and 40 grams/hr. of moisture. o This added 1.5 kW of heat and 9 kJ/kg. We then used the amount of moisture and heat added to find: Sensible heat added: 32.5. Latent Heat added 16.0. Temperature: 16.0 Relative Humidity: 15%
