Reflection on my 3 objectives that I planned to accomplish this spring 2023 semester Objective During the Spring 2023 semester, I will evaluate at least 10 patients with a chief complaint of heavy vaginal bleeding while doing my clinical rotation at Dr. Pinkston’s office. I will complete the exam and work through the differential diagnosis with my preceptor to increase my confidence and proficiency in evaluating this chief complaint. Reflection I did meet this objective by evaluating more than 10 patients with complaints of heavy vaginal bleeding. I feel like in CP2 I can do better at working through the differential diagnosis and work on increasing my confidence. I feel like working more directly with a women’s health provider will give me more confidence. Objective During the Spring 2023 semester, I will at least complete 10 patient physical exams for wellness visits while doing my clinical rotation at Dr. Pinkston’s office. I will complete the exams and work through any concerns that may arise with my preceptor to increase my confidence and proficiency in doing wellness visits and physical exams Reflection I met this objective and feel like I did it with confidence. I did more than 10 patient physical exams and I was able to talk the patients through the exam. I did not have any concerns that arose, which is good. But I feel like if concerns did arise it would build my confidence more. Objective During the Spring 2023 semester, I will at least complete 10 patient discussions for follow-ups and lab work results from pervious visit. While doing my clinical rotation at Dr. Pinkston’s office, I will complete the discussion of the patient’s lab results with the patient. Importantly, will work through the results of the labs prior to addressing them with the patient with Dr. Pinkston. This will allow Dr. Pinkston to help me address any concerns that may arise with in the lab work prior to visiting the patient. This will also help increase my confidence and proficiency in doing the follow-up visit and reading patient lab results. Reflection
A lot of the patients we had in clinic came back in a week or 2 for follow up on labs, so that gave me the opportunity to really learn lab results and the importance of them. Dr. Pinkston did a great job at helping me identify labs to address and labs that were normal. I hope in CP2 I am able to see more pediatric labs and learn more about those.
