Milenna Robinson Lab 12 09/24/23 Activity 1: you are solving for the coefficient of static friction Prep Mbook= 0.917kg Wbook= 4.759N After I collected data three times the average mbag was between max 0.485kg and min 0.482kg, and the average of the wbag was between max 4.759N and min 4.756N.
Milenna Robinson Lab 12 09/24/23 The equation 4.759kg/8.99N will give us a coefficient of static friction of max of 0.529 and min 0.429. Activity 2: Does this answer make sense compared to the Activity 1 results? Yes, just because we added more weight, the coefficient of static friction should remain the same. So because I got the same weight for the books, my mbook2 average was the same, which made the Newton remain the same. Mbook2= 1.62kg Wbook2= 15.88N After I collected data three times, the average mbag was between max 1.62kg and min 1.58kg, and the average of the wbag was between max 15.88N and min 14.88N. The equation 1.62kg/15.88N will give us a coefficient of static friction of max of 0.102 and min 0.95.
