MEMORANDUM TO: VIVEK KESIREDDY FROM: AHMAD ABUSADA PETE 225 501 PARTNERS : NONE SUBJECT: LAB NO 6: IADC Dull Grading DATE: March 25, 2024 In this lab, we walked around and individually graded 11 different drilling bits on 8 different factors. The first factor was the inner rows, then the outer rows, then we rated the dull characteristics. The 4 th ranking was the location with the most damage. The 5 th ranking was a yes or no on whether the drill bits had bearings that would move or not. the 6 th ranking is the gauge, which is the measure in fractions of the drill bits gauge. The 7 th ranking is the other dull characteristics that the drill bit may or may not possess. The final ranking is the reason the drill bit was pulled or run terminated, which was a TD (Total Depth) for all 11 drill bits. “On my honor as an Aggie, I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this academic work.” Ahmad Abusada Attachment(s): Lab report
Title: Lab 6: IADC DULL GRADING Executive Summary The objective of lab 6 was to practice dull grading bits. This is done because bits are a great way to see what went on in offset wells. The eleven bits graded were analyzed using the IADC Dull Grade System. The inner rows, outer rows, dull characteristics, location, bearings/seals, gauge, and reason pulled were all analyzed. Conclusions We can conclude from the lab that all the drill bits were pulled out due to the drill bits reaching total depth. Discussion and Results Table 1 Dull Grade for Each Bit Bit # Inner Rows Outer Rows Dull Char. I would use this bit again. Bit 2 - Based on the bit record and the observations made during the lab, it can be assumed that bit 2 was pulled due to reaching total depth. I would not recommend using this bit again. Bit 3 - Based on the bit record and the observations made during the lab, it can be assumed that bit 3 was pulled because it reached its total depth. This is obvious based on the minimal wear on the bit. I would recommend using this bit again in this area after it gets repaired. Bit 4 - Based on the bit record and the observations made during the lab, it can be assumed that bit 4 was pulled due to reaching total depth. I would not recommend using this bit again in this area because of the ring out.
