EdWeb: Activating Your Mindset to Inspire and Ignite Learning How will you apply your newly acquired knowledge in the classroom? The way I will apply my newly acquired knowledge in the classroom is by focusing on vocabulary. For example, if I plan to read a passage with my classroom, I will provide them with vocabulary words ahead of time. With the vocabulary words we will review them, and I will provide a student-friendly definition, multiple examples that uses the word, and a fun fact about the word, such as word originated from. From this online seminar, I acquired the knowledge which is that students enjoy learning fun facts about vocabulary words. It is a fun way for them to remember a word, and what it means or how to use it; therefore, going over vocabulary words I will make sure to provide a fun about the word. I also learned that providing just one example of the word might not help students remember, learn, comprehend, and understand what it means. Therefore, I will provide multiple examples as well as ask the students to provide an example they can think of using that word. Emphasizing and reviewing vocabulary words multiple times using multiple ways is something new that I acquired from watching this online seminar and it is something that I will apply in my classroom. What are some strategies you can implement in your clinical experiences this semester? When planning my lesson for my clinical experience class for this semester, I will implement the strategies I learned from watching this online seminar. Reading is across the board. It is done in every subject from reading a passage to reading a word problem to reading a science lab to reading our amendments reading. Therefore, before I teach, I will review vocabulary words that will be seen and talked about during the lesson. A strategy I learned from watching the online seminar is introducing vocabulary before teaching the lesson because it
provides students with the sense of comprehension when learning the material during lesson. Therefore, before teaching a lesson, I will teach vocabulary, such as providing examples and fun facts about each vocabulary word to the students to alleviate any confusion there may be when teaching the lesson without reviewing vocabulary would provide. Teaching vocabulary lessons using examples, fun facts, and a student friendly definition is a strategy I learned from this online seminar. EdWeb: K-3 Reading Across Grades and Content Areas: What, When, How Much, and With Whom How will you apply your newly acquired knowledge in the classroom? The way I will apply my newly acquired knowledge in the classroom would be by trying my best to always stay positive. I will try my best to always be encouraging and motivating with my students so they can have a positive mindset and positive perspective on school, class, and work. For example, should a student be having a difficult day I will talk to them one-on-one to see if everything is well with them or what is going on and if there is anything I could help them with. If a student finds themselves upset, frustrated, or confused I will help them change their perspective and their mindset to a positive one. If a student receives a bad grade on something or forgets their homework at home and they become upset, I will encourage them to change their perspective because they will have another opportunity to turn in the work or another opportunity to help raise their grade as they do not receive one grade for a whole entire semester. Most importantly, what I learned from this online seminar is to maintain and provide a positive environment and atmosphere for my students by making sure I provide them with a positive attitude, perspective, and mindset as an educator I am the example. Maintaining a positive

mindset and a positive perspective and attitude so my students can do the same is a new acquired knowledge I will bring to my classroom. What are some strategies you can implement in your clinical experiences this semester? From watching this online seminar, I learned about a few strategies I can implement during my instruction sessions. One strategy I can implement in my clinical experiences this semester is taking one step at a time and teaching my students to take one step at a time, not overwhelm themselves with thinking about long-term goals. Yes, everybody should have long- term goals, but in the classroom, I want the students to focus on the small and daily steps that need to be achieved to get to that long-term goal. I am currently completing my clinical hours in a high school with 12th graders, and students many feel a lot of pressure to graduate. In this last year of school students are trying to make sure they have or will complete every requirement needed to graduate; therefore, it could be a year that can be a little stressful for them. As an educator, I will try my best to make sure that my students keep a positive mindset and positive attitude, at least in my classroom by understanding that everything will turn out the way out good and by making sure my students stay motivated and positive throughout their time in my class. I will also provide my students with positive support and being available for them when they need help from me. I want to ensure that all my students are successful and for me to do so I need to maintain a positive mindset and perspective in the classroom and my students will start to have that same positive mindset and perspective.
