1. What is cognitive mapping? Cognitive mapping is a method that is used to generate a mental and/or visual outline to aid in the process of what an individual hopes to attain (Epstein, et al., 2017). The central subject matter can be a problem, thought, subject, theme, etc. From the central concept there are associations that grow in levels and fill out on the initial subject (Mind mapping basics, 2021). Associations can have further connections that evolve the understanding of the subject even further. 2. Positive effects of using cognitive mapping in daily life: Cognitive mapping can have a positive psychological impact on individuals because it provides a platform for organization and can be an aid in prioritization (Khelil, 2021). Cognitive mapping forces an individual to breakdown major thoughts and concepts into smaller, manageable sections. By concentrating and narrowing in on smaller sections, cognitive mapping allows an individual’s brain to focus on portions rather than be overwhelmed by the larger amounts all at once. Cognitive mapping also enables people to have a better understanding of the way in which they learn (Sun et al, 2019). 3. Who might benefit from this strategy? The strategy of cognitive mapping would be a useful tool and strategy for individuals in all stages of life. Children and teens can use this to method to map out and decide what sports or extracurricular activities peak their interest and research what they entail. College students can use this method to organize their class schedule and study time into their lives as well as to map put projects and assignments. In the work life an individual can use cognitive mapping to find solutions to problems by breaking down the bigger picture into smaller, more manageable sections and tackling them one by one. Retired adults can use cognitive mapping as a way to reminisce on life experiences or plan future experiences. References Epstein, R.A., Patai, E.Z., Julian, J.B., & Spiers, H.J. (2017). I could use a mind map to enrich my academic experience at GCU because it creates a visual representation of where my time goes and can aid in identifying where I can increase time for my education. This strategy is also beneficial because it provides a way of breaking down big assignments into smaller chucks. Cognitive mapping can also serve as a tool for memorization in any and all assignments during my time at GCU.
rt 1: Using your research thoroughly answer the questions below: 1. Explain what cognitive mapping is? Cognitive mapping is described as a technique in which you can visually create a visual/mental representation to help in something they are trying to achieve. The core topic, which might be the theme, issue, problem, or viewpoint, can be placed in
the map's center (Mind mapping basics, 2021). The connections that assist the answer or expand on the fundamental subject arise from the maps center (Mind mapping basics, 2021). This is the direct point of any map being made. 2. Provide at least two positive effects of using cognitive mapping in daily life. Once implemented right, cognitive mapping has shown
