The areas of cognitive psychology that interest me the most are memory and decision-making . The specific applied setting that is of interest to me and important for my future career in the field of forensic psychology is mental health . Some of the potential cognitive problems in my area that I think further research and studying in cognitive processes may be able to help solve or aid in better understanding them are issues with memory, understanding the minds of repeat offenders or those who engage in dangerous behaviors, and overall impacts of poor mental health on people. I'd be interested in pursuing a topic related to mental health and its impact on the behaviors or actions that people carry out and I believe that this fits in well with my area of study (forensic psychology). A lot of different cognitive processes are important when it comes to forensic psychology as they all play a role in how people behave, learn, understand, and are perceived by those around them. T hree potential research questions that explore potential improvements related to my topic of mental health as it relates to memory and behavior/decision-making as well as the applied setting are as follows:  Are people with a history of mental health struggles more likely to engage in reckless, dangerous behavior than people who believe they are mentally sound?  If repeat criminal offenders receive therapy or treatment for their childhood trauma or unresolved issues, are they more likely to become successfully rehabilitated or will they remain repeat offenders?  Are those who suffer from poor mental health more likely to have difficulty recalling past events?
