Classical Conditioning (15%) This assignment relates to the following Course Learning Requirements: CLR1 – Explore and identify the theories of early learning Objective of this Assignment: Discuss the various elements of classical conditioning present in different situations. Pre-Assignment Instructions: To prepare for this assignment, read the module content and textbook readings from module 7 and watch the associated videos. Assignment Tasks: Part A: Using the following link, watch the video from 5:00-6:40. https://youtu.be/7GrDoEvG4t4?t=300 Identify each of the following elements of classical conditioning that were present in the video: Neutral stimulus Unconditioned stimulus Unconditioned response Conditioned stimulus Conditioned response For each element, justify your selection using the knowledge you gained following the readings from this module. (Explain how you came to your answer. What do you know about each particular stimulus or response of the theory that made you connect that event in the video with that stimulus or response?) How could stimulus generalization have been demonstrated in this video clip? How could stimulus discrimination have been demonstrated in this video clip? Part B: Describe a behaviour you exhibit that occurs as a result of classical conditioning. Do not use the example of your phone ringing or notifying you of a message/email and you responding to it. Marks will not be given for this part of the assignment if this example is used. With your example in mind, identify each of the following elements of classical conditioning: Neutral stimulus Unconditioned stimulus Unconditioned response
Conditioned stimulus Conditioned response For each element above, justify your selection using the knowledge you gained following the readings from this module. (Explain how you came to your answer. What do you know about each particular stimulus or response of the theory that made you connect that event in your example with that stimulus or response?) How could stimulus generalization have been demonstrated in your example? How could stimulus discrimination have been demonstrated in your example?
