Call this new variable ln_Mbbl . Create another scatterplot with the variable Year on the horizontal axis and the variable ln_Mbbl on the vertical axis. Be sure to appropriately label the scatterplot.
4. Calculate the correlation between the variables Year and ln_ Mbbl . The correlation between the variables is 0.99477348 5. If you did parts 2 and 4 correctly, you should get two different values for the correlation. Comment on why one of the correlations is greater than the other (Hint: Refer back to the scatterplots you created in parts 1 and 3, these will shed some light on the situation). The correlation is based on the measure of linear association of the amount of Mbbl produced in a specific year. The first scatter plot has an exponential growth pattern. The relationship of the natural log version is more linear as shown in the graph, making the correlation between ln_Mbbl and Year higher than the first graph.
