Nowadays, a successful product needs to consider various factors. Novelty products enrich people’s environment and lifestyle, because the product is designed by organizing a certain purpose, planning assumptions and choosing specific carrier to better express designer’s creative idea with a strong culture value. The product is presented by a variety of elements which are combination of lines, symbols, numbers, colors, etc. Many products contain three elements which are typically quality, function and appearance. And it is significant to consider them well to produce a high quality, exquisite and strong visual product. These elements fully determine the layout of the entire production system. The importance of them is that good product design with using these elements, not only in the functional superiority and ease of manufacturing, low production costs, but also the overall competitiveness of the product is enhanced. Many dominant enterprises in market competition have great attention to design elements, in order to design a low cost but with unique functionality. Many companies in developed countries regard design as a popular strategic tool. Good design elements are the key to win customers interests. This essay will focus its emphasizes on the quality, function and appearance in the design and manufacturing by using a specific technological product, and it will also describe how to balance these elements when they are in the process of designing a product. To begin
The design should be utmost unique and further differentiated, not conforming to culture. Design is could be one competitive advantage so it is important that the manufacturing of the products are conformed to the original ideas of the maker, uninfluenced by any other factors involved in its manufacturing process. Example of this idea is the use of differentiation strategy of companies to gain competitive advantage.
* Artistic/aesthetic – The design of a product is what your intended audience will first see, so it’s important to have an appealing aesthetic. Things within this realm may include the choice of colour or the shape and feel of the object or design.
Design combines “technology, cognitive science, human need, and beauty to produce something the world didn’t know it was missing”. Assume that all products have the same technology, price, performance, and features. How would you know which product is better? That’s what design does; it is what differentiates one product from another. It creates utility and significance. For every percent of sales invested in product design, a company’s sales and profits rise by an average of 3-4 percent. My MAP organization Aldi’s thrives on making design choices that will benefit them in the future. They choose to have all stores exactly the same square footage, minimal brand options, only 6-8 employees, even multiple bar codes so checking out is quicker, and chose to save on stocking time by keeping their products in the same boxes they were shipped in. They utilize their costs and that has a huge significance on customer appreciation. Who doesn’t want greater quality at everyday low prices?
The main objective of the company is that the design is of great fun and it is energetic, smart surprising and hence affordable. Thus, when they talk about making a good design then they do not mean that the way something can look but also the way it can satisfy a need along with the way it can simplify the life of the people and the way they feel about the product.
A design can be a blueprint, the physical outlook or it is a representation that catches the consumer attention and also influences the consumption patterns. The stigma of design in today’s world is so strong that a well-designed product can even be sold to a non-potential customer like selling a hairbrush to a bald person. Good designs makes the customers
The four basic principles of design will be incorporated into my journal cover project in order to make my designs visually stimulating and organized. During the designing process, the principle of proximity will help me group together images and words that are closely associated with one another, so it will be clear to viewers which items are related to one another, and those that are not. Williams’s explanation of alignment rules will help ensure that words and images are not randomly thrown on the cover, and will also remind me to commit to one type of alignment, unless it becomes necessary for me to use more than one. I will utilize the principle of repetition in order to make my main ideas distinct; a conscientious effort will be made to go beyond my usual use of repetition through the use of different font styles, headings, images, etc. The principle of contrast will help my designs become more visually appealing and will allow me to be more creative with my color schemes. After I have completed my two illustrations, the four principles will also serve as a final checklist, to ensure that my designs clearly project the theme of “The Future of Technical Communication,” and are easily understandable.

For manufactured products to be successful, they must accomplish several crucial points. These points are highlighted in the belief system founded by Dieter Rams known as the ten design principles of good design. Beginning at the drawing board, it is vital that designers keep all of these aspects and margins in mind while developing their product. Brita, a company that focuses on water filtration products, is one of the few corporations that satisfy almost all of Ram’s commandments. In particular, the Brita Sport Water Bottle follows his famous design doctrine especially well. These design concepts contribute to all of the product’s successes throughout the years.
The first time our civilization has faced with mass customization in pre-industrialization era. In spite of this fact, today we also have started to develop it. Of course, these times are very different, because today people use modern technologies. Between these periods we can observe mass production, which come in vogue with fundamental benefit of economy of scale and it was peak in mid century. For example, it was time of Soviet Union, and then companies produced a lot of similar clothes, shoes and etc. In late twentieth century, mass customization was back. Manufacturers offer different variation of products and customization is possible. Methods of application will examine in the next section.
Visual considerations should be given prior importance while designing an automobile as it has direct effects on its design and design is supposed to be a very crucial factor as undoubtedly it is the thing that decides whether people are going to like it and buy it or not.
