Communication Competency

Review the Communication Competence summary on pages 22–23. Complete the checklist and write a response in three parts that addresses the following using clear headings:

Definition: The ability to make thoughtful reasoned decisions beneficial to both the patient and the dental firm, and communicate those decisions.

From the Communicative Competence Scale given, I have learned how much comfortable I am communicating with those in my surroundings. I have been communicating with various groups of people due to the experience from my job as I am a current Lot Associate at the Home Depot as my job consists of helping and communicating with customers if any assistance that they need for them to make their trip easier. Before, I use to have my arms or legs shaking whenever I have to present or when I am around others who I am not acquainted to, but I was gradually able to feel more relax as I present myself toward others no matter what environment I am in.

This commentary will provide a reflection of the author’s key skill competencies, particularly focusing on communication, teamwork, problem-solving, interpersonal skill. A summary of these keys skills will outline the author’s key strengths and areas for future improvement relative to either current weaknesses and or challenges.

Upon my completion of taking the "The Competence Communicator" assessment "Do You Smell Something Burn? Assessing Your Burnout Risk", I discovered that my was between a 31-50 resulting that I am at moderate burnout risk. At this point in my career, I would agree with the results due to there has been a lot of aspects at my job that has caused a negative effect on employees leading to temporarily stressful aspects to my job. I have recognized I am not the only one to feel these symptoms of burnout but also some of my close colleagues are as well. I have seen an decrease in team morale and job performance due to aggravated work stressors. I have completed the communication competencies survey, and I was compelled to say that it was a little difficult for me not to mark all of the answers with the highest score. I have looked over the survey, and I would like to determine and develop strategies to help me become a better team member. As I am attending school to earn an accounting degree, I am almost certain that sometimes there will be meetings or even public speaking that I will have to participate in. As a team member, I have to work harder to reduce my nervousness when speaking in a discussion or meeting. Listening is a vital element of communication and it is very much different from hearing sense of human. A meaningful communication requires both a good listener and a speaker. However, the effect of a listening style may vary depending on the occasions and situations a listener is in. Sometimes, speaker exhibit ineffective style such as defensiveness, ambushing, pseudo-listening, stage hogging and selective listening in their communication tracks.

The purpose of this paper is threefold. First, to investigate the interpersonal communication skills that human resource (HR) managers expect managers in supervisory positions possess. Second, to identify which of these skills HR managers expect managers use to engender subordinate commitment to the organisation. Third, the paper aims to investigate what interpersonal communication skills that enhance employee commitment to the organisation are most lacking in managers in supervisory positions.

Having clear communication skills are very important in the world if it is talking with friends and family, acting in a motion picture for school, or writing an essay in college. It is always important to be clear and effective when communicating. It can be difficult and takes lots of practice to achieve but the benefits of having clear communication skills are essential, such as having a better academic career, a higher paying job, or a better social life. It is beneficial to people in their lives to communicate clearly and effectively and not be confusing or misleading.

In my experience, strong communication is the core of every good relationship. Effective communication is not always easy to master, trust is the primary instrument which allows clear communication to take place. In professional relations, I have seen that effective communication is A major skill that social workers must utilize in facilitating the client’s growth or change process is to earn their trust, confidence, and respect. Professional and personal relationships share certain values such as trust, integrity, and empathy. But the nature of these relationships have some critical differences. For example, in a professional relationship, the client must come first, but in a healthy friendship, each friend gives to eachother. A competent professional does not engage in discussions with the client about the professional ’ s personal problems, but friends confide in each other equally and discuss each other ’ s personal problems.

For any particular event, the representatives of an organization have the tendency to face curb work places of an assessment in appreciation of the 'flyer points ' which the employee acquires occasionally from the organisation through the consumer loyalty program.
