Being a position that requires communication can definitely be beneficial. I have been volunteering for nearly two years at a crisis hotline and have since felt my communication skills over the phone improve significantly. Interacting with people frequently also tends to ease people's worries when it comes to communication, so it is understandable that your communication competency is high, especially in a position of authority.

From the Communicative Competence Scale given, I have learned how much comfortable I am communicating with those in my surroundings. I have been communicating with various groups of people due to the experience from my job as I am a current Lot Associate at the Home Depot as my job consists of helping and communicating with customers if any assistance that they need for them to make their trip easier. Before, I use to have my arms or legs shaking whenever I have to present or when I am around others who I am not acquainted to, but I was gradually able to feel more relax as I present myself toward others no matter what environment I am in.

Upon my completion of taking the "The Competence Communicator" assessment "Do You Smell Something Burn? Assessing Your Burnout Risk", I discovered that my was between a 31-50 resulting that I am at moderate burnout risk. At this point in my career, I would agree with the results due to there has been a lot of aspects at my job that has caused a negative effect on employees leading to temporarily stressful aspects to my job. I have completed the communication competencies survey, and I was compelled to say that it was a little difficult for me not to mark all of the answers with the highest score. I have looked over the survey, and I would like to determine and develop strategies to help me become a better team member. As I am attending school to earn an accounting degree, I am almost certain that sometimes there will be meetings or even public speaking that I will have to participate in. In my experience, strong communication is the core of every good relationship. Professional and personal relationships share certain values such as trust, integrity, and empathy. But the nature of these relationships have some critical differences. For example, in a professional relationship, the client must come first, but in a healthy friendship, each friend gives to eachother. A competent professional does not engage in discussions with the client about the professional ’ s personal problems, but friends confide in each other equally and discuss each other ’ s personal problems.
