If your are allowed a cell phone in school and you get caught doing something you shouldn't, you could get in trouble. If cell phones weren't allowed in school there wouldn't be problems over the phone. If you have a phone in class it is a distraction from your learning. If your were a teacher would you want your students to have phones. Students would be on their phone while they should be doing homework. As students we go to school for seven hours. In those seven hours there is no reason they need to be on there phone. School is for learning, not looking at a phone. Having a phone in school puts others at risk (Rossi, Madison). When students are on their phones they take pictures. The could take inappropriate pictures in the locker rooms. That could hurt the person being the victim. That could also be known as cyber bulling. Cyber bulling would increase in …show more content…
Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania took a survey of 1,800 college students to see how students use their phone in class to on social media. 69% said yes, I use my phone in class (Schoenberg, Nara). Those 69% had a lower GPA overall, but sometimes using your phone in class is useful. Phones can be important because you could be in math class and need to use a calculator. That is more understandable. You could have to text someone about something important, and when you could ask and see if thy would let you at the beginning of class. I don't think these tactics ably to high schoolers and middle schoolers. When you go to school for seven hours everyday, there is no reason you should have to go in your phone to check social media. If you need to text your mom, dad, or etc. about how you are getting home then you can go to the office and call them. If students are on their phones it is very distracting and is hard to listen. If college students are dropping there GPA from social media, middle and high school are too. Having a phone in class is hurting your
Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.
In each school there are absurd rules; ours by far has the most. Ok I get it, the staff is trying to us learn with a cleaner environment, but they have to be able to understand that phones CAN help you learn! Phones give us opportunities to hold many useful things such as calculators, passwords, and our schedules. I can see that they would want to take it away because it is “distracting”, but I honestly think that it is more distracting not having it then actually having it, now all we can think about is checking our phones. Although much of the public debate is against it, there are pros associated with allowing cell phones in school. These advantages should not be ignored since cellphones in schools can actually add value to the
Are you always on your phone? Either Snapchatting, on Instagram, scrolling through your twitter feed? It can be pretty temping to pick up your phone and do this stuff in class but you can use them in good ways in school. George Washington Middle School currently has cell phones banned in class. Although most teachers think that cell phones are a distraction, cell phones should be allowed in class because students feel anxious without their phones, there are many educational uses, and allowing phones is more convenient.
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
According to huffingtonpost an average teenager spends over one third of their day on their phones and kids ages 8-12 also spend nearly 6 hours a day on their smartphones. In addition, non-class purposes at least 10 times a day. Banning phones also shows respect to the teachers and students who would not like to be distracted throughout their day in class. In addition to that, in 2015 a history teacher at Lowell High School quits her job after her frustration with students and their cellphones. After 20 year of teaching she stated at that texting, tweeting and snapchatting during class time are “and incredible distraction, and makes it much more difficult to teach.”
I believe cell phones don't should be allow in school because, can be distracting and normally when the teachers ask to give the phone you never do that.
You’re not truly getting an education if you’re absorbed in your phone instead of your teacher. Students should not be allowed to have their phones on school grounds. Cell phones and other electronic devices are huge distraction. Students don’t know how to handle them responsibly and using them could lead to cyber-bullying.
Cell phones cause negative effects and disturb students from learning. Students need to get an education and learn more about school work. Students and teens will worry way much more about their phones than their school work. Cell phone are a big disturbance and need to stay off the school property. Many students love to research things they do not need to research and that is one reason why students do not need their phones during school. Cell phones should not be allowed or used during school hours. Students just need to worry more about their school work and do not need to worry about their phones. Students need to be banned and their teachers need to take their student's
Secondly, cell phones being allowed in school affect a student 's physical and mental health. Cyberbullying in school is common and the use of cell phones increases it. Cyberbullying mentally harms a person 's health. The mental and physical health of a child, who is bullied online in school and at home, is damaging! For example, last June students took photos of a high school senior, Saira Ali, in the cafeteria. The pictures later appeared on Snapchat with the word "Isis" on them (Attrino). This is a sign of harassment, which is an attribute of cyberbullying. The indulgence of cell phones also brings harm to a person 's physical health. Americans already spend
Phones have become more popular today. Every where you go they are glued to students and adult's hands. New phones are coming out every year, and students just can not seem to let their phones go. These students always have these phones by their side, in class, and not in class, they always have them. Students are addicted to these phones, so what do the teachers, and administrators do about these phones during school hours? Many people think that students should use their phone in class, but there is also many people who think students should not be allowed to use phones in class. Students should not be allowed to use cell phones during school hours. Students should not be allowed to use their phones during school hours because there are many students who will use their phone in a way that they are not supposed to. This means that students may get on their phones in class and play games that are not good games. They can also get on Snapchat and take pictures of other students and talk about the student witch is cyber-bullying. Students might get on You-Tube and watch videos that the teacher did not approve of. Did you know that you can not be on your phone in class? Because when you're on your phone the teacher does not know what you're are doing. You can be on Snap chat or Instagram, or even looking up the answers on the
It is realistic that there will always be bulling through text message, online, or face to face, although if someone is bulling another student through text message that student could save these messages as proof to show authority of what was really said. There will always be problems with cheating on tests, although to solve this problem since the teacher already knows that every student has a cell phone, the students would have to take their cell phones out, turn them off and place them on the corner of their desks during test time. The use of cell phones in school may take away the students urge to use them, which would than create a better learning place for these
The future of technology is coming, in today’s time you can’t go anywhere without seeing a teen taking a photo, random people listening to music or someone talking on the phone. In this upcoming generation life is centered around technology, especially in schools. The use of technology in schools is rising higher and higher by the day which is affecting the way of learning and concentration students use to have before cell phones or computers existed. Another issue thats wrong with upcoming generations of cell phones is the cyberbullying that happens.
First of all, using cell phones in school is distracting, to the user and to other people around him or her. One way phones can be a disturbance is because the user can text and communicate with their friends. Also, they can play games or look through social media applications and websites that they have on their phones instead of doing what they are supposed to be doing. Based on a study in 2016, 675 students in 26 states say that they use about 20% of their classroom time using electronics for activities that are unrelated to the class (Reed, “Digital distraction in class is on the rise”). Imagine if the study was done in all 50 states, the number would be multiplied by two. The amount of interruption cell phones cause during class time annoys other students and also the teacher.
Many schools around the world are now allowing their students to use cell phones during class. Even though, students may use their cell phones to cheat on a test or other work they may need to do. They might also get distracted from doing their work if they receive a message or start playing games. Cell phones are one of the biggest distractions out of hundreds. Cell phones may also disturb other students in the classroom who may need that class to graduate or for a bachelor's degree. Students have to have a failure in life to learn new things; therefore, cheating is not the answer. Schools should not allow students to use cell phones during class because many students take advantage and use them to cheat.
To begin with, cell phones in a classroom setting provide a temptation to distract students from the learning and interactions that could be otherwise achieved. When a student has their phone in class, it
