Supervision is the activity carried out by supervisors to oversee the productivity and progress of employees who report directly to the supervisors. Supervision is a management activity and supervisors typically are considered to have a management role in the organization. The act of planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling resources to include personnel, equipment, communications, and facilities to accomplish a mission goal applies to many domains such as first response systems, law enforcement, space missions.
As a manager or supervisor, you must aware to need a knowledgeable, professional manager yourself and employee. A common problem between men and women are facing hospitality supervision role is people.

Authority
Authority is the power an organization gives to a supervisor to do something or to get something done. There are two types of authority: formal and informal. Formal authority comes with the position a person holds in the organization. Informal authority, also referred to as personal authority, is the power you have because of your abilities and personal traits. In my opinion, authority is means want to control something in your hand. Formal authority means use law or rules to control the store or public place. Informal authority means you want to control something by yourself, nobody help you.
